Feicthe trí shúile mná easáitithe as cúlra Protastúnach/Aontachtach ach a chaith a saol ina cónaí i gceantar Náisiúnach/Caitliceach i dTuaisceart na hÉireann, seo dráma a insíonn scéal faoi dhúspéis phearsanta sa Mhaighdean Mhuire agus a daonnacht caillte, faighte ar ais sna scéalta inste ag mná na hÉireann.
Is ealaíontóir focal labhartha, scríbhneoir, déantóir amharclainne, ealaíontóir ilmheán agus aisteoir í Mel Bradley. Bailitheoir scéalta mná nár insíodh. Is feimineach neamhbhalbh aiteach í le guth macánta agus oibseisiún mífholláin leis an Mhaighdean Mhuire. Deir sí féin gurb é ginias cruthaitheach atá inti agus chomh luaineach leis an ngaoth. Thosaigh sí a gairm focal labhartha mar “slam poet” agus anois tá trí seó focal labhartha agus dráma amháin deánta aici.
Viewed through the lens of a displaced woman from a Protestant/Unionist background who has spent most of her life living in Nationalist (Catholic) areas in the North of Ireland, ‘For the Love of Mary’ maps a personal fascination with the Virgin Mary and her lost humanity, rediscovered in those stories shared by women living in Ireland.
Mel Bradley is a spoken word artist, writer, playwright/ theatre-maker, multimedia artist and actor. A gatherer of the untold stories of women. An outspoken queer feminist performer with a candid voice and an unhealthy obsession in the Virgin Mary. A self-described creative genius with the attention span of a gnat who began her spoken word career as a slam poet and now boast three spoken words shows, and a play.
